2024 Australian National Band Championship!

This year Knox Wind Symphony were able to enter the 2024 Australian National Band Championship held in Adelaide, SA, 29th March – 1st April. We are proud of our 2nd Place result in the Open B Grade Concert category!

It was a wonderful event in a beautiful location, with amazing performances and of course excellent company.

Two November Performances!

Knox Wind Symphony have two more performances to round out a successful 2023!

We are performing at Bandstand Sunday, November 26th thanks to Victorian Bands’ League. A free concert from 9:30am – 6:30pm at the main stage of Federation Square. Catch us on stage at 2:45pm, but stick around all day to see brass and concert bands from all around Victoria!

On Wednesday, November 29th at 7pm we’re looking forward to supporting Wantirna, Vermont and Bairnsdale Secondary Colleges as their string and wind music programs combine forces. Tickets only $5 https://www.trybooking.com/CNEEE

A Celebration of Community Music

The 2023 Victorian School Music Festival and Fine Music are proud to showcase a number of community bands during the festival to celebrate the joy of playing music beyond school.

Join us on Friday August 25th from 7:30pm at the stunning Hawthorn Arts Centre and prepare to be blown away by Knox Wind Symphony, with special guests Melbourne Rainbow Band, Big Band Frequency and Glenferrie Brass.

From romantic rhapsodies to screeching solos, you’ll be sure to enjoy this cross section of some of Melbourne’s finest community bands!

Year of the Dragon

The Knox Wind Symphony directed by Daniel van Bergen and The Grainger Wind Symphony directed by Roland Yeung and Shane Walterfang are presenting a shared program. Each group will perform alone, then will combine to perform Wayfarer Stranger by Christopher Nelson and Year of the Dragon (2017) by Philip Sparke. Other works in the program include How to Train Your Dragon, Rising Dragons, Aurora Borealis, The Echo Never Fades, Howl’s Moving Castle – Symphonic Fantasy, Zanzibar Boat Song, Home Away From Home and Kosciuszko.

Cranbourne Lions Concert Band Festival

The Cranbourne Lions Concert Band are hosting their annual festival of concert bands on Sunday 27th May at Cranbourne Community Theatre, Brunt St, Cranbourne – come along and support Knox Wind Symphony the other participating bands!

A sausage sizzle will be available to purchase to help cover the costs of the event, entry by gold coin donation.

Knox Wind Symphony will be performing from 2pm. See you there!
